Alpha 0.1.8-hotfix.2 gameplay notes Full changes & known limits
Returning from an online match to the title and starting Local Game now keeps the displayed arena and local collision world on the same map.
Online play waits behind the loading screen until the arena buildings, terrain and ship resources are ready. The server receives map readiness before granting possession, so you cannot enter a partially loaded arena.
Online steering responds to local input immediately and reconciles with the server. Position and collision remain server-authoritative; this is not full movement prediction and network latency can still affect those responses.
Official battle results use the simulation clock correctly, fixing rejected results after completed rounds. The homepage shows the server protocol and all downloads in one place.
The Handbook uses refreshed production renders of the PF-V2 Pulseframe and current equipment. Retired PF-V1 imagery is removed.
Official play now has a labelled, editable code field with a visible caret and Paste button. Open Account on the Community website, choose Create link code to create a one-time device code, then type or paste its eight characters into Device link code and choose Link profile. Party invite codes have their own Join a friend’s party screen.
Valid official-server connections could be rejected after linking your device. This hotfix corrects that server admission failure. Once the hotfix is available above, install it and choose Quick Play; an already linked profile does not need another device code.
Solo and party joins now show connection progress until your player and arena are ready. Cancel returns you safely to official play. If a connection fails, Try again requests a fresh connection; party membership is retained. Copy connection details provides diagnostics without your codes or credentials.
Music starts during initial arena loading and continues into the main menu. The loading screen remains responsive while content is prepared in the background.
The PF-V2 Pulseframe, first-person cockpit, seven packaged arenas, refined LAN flight and round-to-round map rotation from 0.1.8 remain included. Press V or Right Stick to cycle camera views.
Alpha 0.1.8-hotfix.2 retains protocol 19, compatibility identity sfsb-alpha-0.1.7-p18 and authenticated encrypted official-aead-v1 admission. Use matching hotfix builds for LAN play. Windows Community HTTPS uses native Windows Schannel.
Community and verified game downloads use public HTTPS. This hotfix retains the existing public official-server endpoint and network access rules. Players do not need Tailscale; it is reserved for deployment administration. Check the current release above: preview notes do not mean the server hotfix is live yet.
Known alpha limits: Physical iMac/Windows playtesting remains necessary, including party joins and reconnects. Windows is supplied as a portable ZIP; the signed installer remains planned for 0.1.9. Public downloads are game-only; SFSB Forge and dedicated servers remain internal; the macOS package is not Developer ID signed or notarized; and NAT relay or player-hosted internet games are not offered.
THE GAMES
War ended. Disagreement did not.
The Intelligence ended scarcity and made war impossible.
It could not make humanity agree.
When the Crown and the Roots cannot decide what comes next, the Games decide.
The Crown seeks one shared direction.
The Roots protect many possible futures.
The Games are harmless simulations. Their agreed outcomes are not.
Server availability is shown here. Choose an available server from inside the game. A temporarily empty directory does not remove the public downloads. Check back here before joining an official game.
